Busy Weeks Ahead

We are entering one of the busiest times of the year, so please keep track of all your commitments.

I would first like to mention that the studio had success in the state round of the MTNA chamber music and young artist brass competitions again.  Brandon Dyer won the state round and advanced to the division round in the young artist brass solo competition and the quartet of Washam/Jessup/Seals/Dyer won the state round and advanced to the division round in chamber music.  The quartet had some very strong competition from the OU brass quintet and the OU string quartet, so it was particularly special for them to advance.  They will all compete at the division round in January for a chance to advance to the national round.  This is the fourth consecutive year the OSU trombone quartet has won the state round and the third year in a row for the studio to have the state representative in young artist brass.

These are the upcoming concerts involving trombone players:

Trombone Choir at the Library
Tuesday November 18 at Noon
US Air Force Airmen of Note at Stillwater High
Wednesday November 19 at 8:00
OSU Wind Ensemble
Thursday November 20 at 8:00
OSU Jazz Ensembles with Michael Davis
Friday November 21 at 8:00
 OSU Brass Ensembles
Monday November 24 at 8:00

Brass juries are also coming up on Monday, December 8.  These juries are for music majors. You will only need to perform your solo.  There will be a scale jury on December 7 for all music majors.  Practice!

Todd will be here to rehearse on Tuesday evening this week.  I will send a more detailed schedule to you soon.

We will be working on final ITA, ETW and Big 12 recordings between November 23 and December 4. I will get more info to you soon, but get ready!  Please plan to get some recording done on November 30, the Sunday following Thanksgiving break.
This is going to be a very busy time, please pay attention and be prepared.
