Prospective Students
We are always looking to add new students to the OSU trombone and euphonium studio, and this site provides information on what we have to offer and how to apply for study. We have music scholarships available to both music majors and non-music majors and offer both undergraduate and graduate degrees in music.
Undergraduate Students
The Department of Music at Oklahoma State University offers the following undergraduate degree options:
- BM in Performance
- BM in Music Education
- BM in Music with Elective Studies in Business
- BA in Music
If you are a trombone or euphonium player interested in pursuing one of these degrees at Oklahoma State University, please do the following:

- Make sure you have taken or are scheduled to take the SAT and/or ACT
- Complete and submit an OSU admission/scholarship application
- Complete and submit an OSU Music Scholarship Application (updated link)
- Schedule an audition for music acceptance/scholarship by calling 405-744-6135
Graduate Students
The Department of Music at Oklahoma State University offers the following graduate degree options:
- MM in Pedagogy and Performance (conducting, music education or applied music)
If you are a trombone or euphonium player interested in pursuing this degree at Oklahoma State University, please do the following:

- Contact Dr. Allen Scott, Coordinator of Graduate Studies in the Department of Music
- Complete an application to the OSU Graduate College
- Complete a Music Graduate Assistantship Application

Audition material is flexible, but it should demonstrate your very best in both technical and lyrical playing. If you have any questions about suitable repertoire, please contact Paul Compton. You may chose from the following:
- All-State Audition Material
- Standard Solo Trombone or Euphonium Repertoire
- Standard Orchestral Excerpts
- Technical and Lyrical Etudes
- Jazz Etudes, transcriptions, tunes and improvisation are encouraged, but should be in addition to classical repertoire, not in place of it
Pre-College Study
We also have a very large group of pre-college students that are studying with Professor Compton or members of the studio. Students from grades 6-12 take weekly lessons to improve their playing. The present OSU pre-college studio includes several all-state and honor band members.
